STAFF ATTORNEY - EAGLE BUTTE, SOUTH DAKOTA

 

DPLS, a non-profit legal services program, has an opening for a staff attorney position at our Eagle Butte, South Dakota, office. The Eagle Butte Office serves the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation and Dewey, Haakon, Hughes, Potter, Sully, Stanley, and Ziebach counties in South Dakota. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants must have a JD degree and be licensed to practice, or by reciprocity be able to obtain a license to practice, in South Dakota, or be willing and qualified to take the next South Dakota Bar Exam; must be a bright, motivated, self-starter; must have the tenacity to assume immediate practice responsibilities, including handling a significant caseload touching on many different areas of law with regular appearances in court; must demonstrate an interest in poverty law and working with Native American and low income clients.  Experience representing veterans and Victims of Crime Act victims a plus. 

 

SALARY: $60,000 plus based on experience. DPLS has an excellent fringe benefits package including generous leave benefits and employee insurance coverage (medical, dental, life, disability). DPLS observes a four day work week.

LEGAL SECRETARY - EAGLE BUTTE, SOUTH DAKOTA

 

DPLS, a non-profit legal services program, has an opening for a Legal Secretary position at our Eagle Butte, South Dakota, office. The Eagle Butte Office serves the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation and Dewey, Haakon, Hughes, Potter, Sully, Stanley, and Ziebach counties in South Dakota.

QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants must have a high school diploma. The legal secretary provides secretarial services attorneys and paralegals and also performs administrative duties as directed by the Managing Attorney of the Branch Office. The legal secretary prepares legal pleadings, correspondence and other documents at the direction of an attorney or paralegal and assists applicants with the application and intake process. Must have familiarity and experience with widely used word processing software and other data management programs; must have a good attitude and ability to work with the general public in a professional manner and an appreciation and a basic understanding of client confidentiality; and must have two years of experience working in a law firm or a similar office environment.

STAFF ATTORNEY - FORT YATES, SOUTH DAKOTA

DPLS, a non-profit legal services program, has an opening for a Staff Attorney position in our Ft. Yates, South Dakota, branch office.  The Ft. Yates office serves the counties of Campbell, Corson, and Walworth counties along with the Standing Rock Reservation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants must have a JD degree and be licensed to practice, or by reciprocity be able to obtain a license to practice, in South Dakota, or be willing and qualified to take the next South Dakota Bar Exam; must be a bright, motivated, self-starter; must have the tenacity to assume immediate practice responsibilities, including handling a significant caseload touching on many different areas of law with regular appearances in court; must demonstrate an interest in poverty law and working with Native American and low income clients.  Experience representing veterans and Victims of Crime Act victims a plus.

STAFF ATTORNEY - FORT THOMPSON, SOUTH DAKOTA

DPLS, a non-profit legal services program, has an opening for a Staff Attorney position in our Ft. Thompson, South Dakota, branch office.  The Ft. Thompson office serves the counties of 
Brule, Buffalo, Hyde and Lyman along with the Lower Brule and Crow Creek reservations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants must have a JD degree and be licensed to practice, or by reciprocity be able to obtain a license to practice, in South Dakota, or be willing and qualified to take the next South Dakota Bar Exam; must be a bright, motivated, self-starter; must have the tenacity to assume immediate practice responsibilities, including handling a significant caseload touching on many different areas of law with regular appearances in court; must demonstrate an interest in poverty law and working with Native American and low income clients.  Experience representing veterans and Victims of Crime Act victims a plus.
